Fashion Week Favorites...Norma Kamali

I was blown away by this collection.  I am kind of embarrassed to say that I never really seen any of her fall collections.  I have always been a big fan of her bathing suits.  I guess I just assumed that was her thing.  I am glad I discovered her fall collection.  I really like her style.

Here are my favorites.

There is so many great quilted pieces in this collection.  I loved them all.  The tulle over-skirt over the pants is AMAZING.  I would wear that in a heartbeat.  Such a great collection.

Fashion Week Favorites...Bibhu Mohapatra

I am going to be honest.  I never heard of Bibhu Mohapatra before today, but I really like his collection.

Here are my favorites.

I am glad I took a look at his collection.  I was pleasantly surprised. I love all the geometric patterns on the coat, dress and skirts.  I am not usually into color except for red, but I really like the blue and purples in this collection.

Fashion Week Favorites...Lela Rose

Another Fashion Week favorite is Lela Rose.

This collection is so pretty.  I am very into dresses lately.  My favorite is the ombre feather skirt and I might try to DIY it.  I also like the sweater with a full skirt.

More of my favorites to come, so stay tuned.

Fashion Week Favorites...Jenni Kayne

I spent the beginning of my day going through some more collections from fashion week.  If only I could sew, I think I could come up with a unique collection that could show at fashion week.  Someday!

Jenni Kayne's collection was another one of my favorites.  Here are my favorite looks.

I really liked the green and black dress.  It is by far my favorite.

I am looking forward to spring, but seeing all these fall looks makes me want to DIY some warm clothes.  It is, after all, still 20 degrees outside.

What collections are you liking so far?

Fashion Week Favorites... Jason Wu

Last week, I was going through the spring collections trying to get inspired to make some new duds for Spring.  With this week being fashion week, now I am looking at Fall 2013 collections.  I am so confused. Am I inspired by Spring or Fall?  Who knows.

What I do know is that I am loving Jason Wu's Fall collection.  Here are my favorites.

I love all the black and whites together and you know I love me some black and red together.  (If you don't know, go through all my DIY's.

I will continue to go through the new Fall collections, but I am still trying to get inspired for Spring.  So I guess I will be going through the Spring collections as well.  Fashion overload!

Spring Collection Favorites from Oscar de la Renta

I am back.  Did you miss me?

I know it has been awhile since I have posted on here.  I am sorry I have neglected you, but I have been putting more focus on my interior design blog (If It's Not Baroque...).  I was trying to get more followers and it is finally going well.  So now I can focus a little more on this blog.  Yay!

I have been going through all the Spring Collections and thought it would be cool to pick my favorite outfits.  I can use them as inspiration for future outfits or sewing projects.

I started with Oscar de la Renta.

This collection really has me inspired to make some clothes.  I will keep you posted if I decide to make anything that even comes close to resembling any of these outfits.  I just started sewing so I doubt it.

DIY Black Lace Maxi Skirt

Yesterday, I turned my inspiration black lace maxi skirt into a reality.  It was surprisingly easy and it is my first article of clothing I have ever made.

Materials Needed:

Black Lace (I used 1 1/2 yards)
Black Ribbon
Black Thread
Sewing Machine

Measure your waist and add 4 inches to that measurement.  Then lay your fabric out.  If you lay it out folded in half, you need to divide your measurement in half before you cut your fabric.

Cut at an angle to get a tapered effect.

I cut some length off of the bottom before I sewed it together.

After you finish cutting it, go ahead and sew the side that is open.

Next, fold the top of the lace to make a pocket for the ribbon draw string.  Pin and sew.  Don't forget to leave an opening for the ribbon to be fed through.  I forgot and had to cut an opening.

Put a safety pin on the end of the ribbon to fish it through your waist band.  After that, you are finished.

I made a little black skirt out of left over knit jersey fabric from another project for the under skirt.  You can put boy shorts, leggings or a short skirt under your lace skirt for tons of different looks.

I am proud of myself.  Look out Project Runway, I am on my way!
